Excellent competitive game between two good teams, three tries each with one conversion separating the scoreline.

Acklam had the greater amount of opportunities to score but failed to take their chances. Bishop Auckland were very aggressive at the breakdown and Acklam initially found it hard to compete. Having said that Acklam had most of the territory and possession in the first 6 minutes when Bishop broke through to open the scoring, 0-7. Acklam opened their scoring when Dylan made a decisive run which Harvey fed off to score a good try, 7-7. Bishop won their line out 40 metres out from Acklam's line which they scored from 7-12. James Nicolson made a try scoring tackle when a strong running Bishop player broke the defensive line. The first half finished with Acklam pressing strongly for a try which they didn't quite manage, H.T. 7-12.

The second half Acklam had the wind behind them but failed to take advantage of the conditions. After 35 minutes Dylan Solberg made his typical decisive break to score, 12-12. Acklam were playing well and after 45 minutes Harvey Saul made a barn storming 50 metre run but the hosts failed to score. Minutes later Acklam won their line out on the half way from which Dylan made another break and then offloaded to Louis Craig who sprinted in from 30 metres to score a very good try, 17-12. The last ten minutes of the game were tense as Acklam held onto their lead until the 55th minute when Bishop scored under the post and the conversion kick won them the game, F.T. 17-19.

To-day's game are the best sort of games from which the lads will learn from and it certainly showed up some areas for improvement before next Sunday. Excellent turn out lads and well played!
