Sharing information - We are in this together.

The new committee had its first meeting on Monday evening via Zoom. We focused on the current issues for the club as follows:

Engage and Retain

Senior Captains and Coaches were invited along to discuss engagement with players of all levels during the second lockdown and we thank them for their time and input. As a result, you should see some agreed actions taking shape as follows:

  • Captains and Coaches engaging with their players to sustain our rugby community.
  • A new walking/running challenge in which the whole club can participate.
  • Some rugby skills challenge videos which we hope will create an element of competition amongst players of all ages from Under 7's to Vets.

Finances

Hopefully you will already be aware of the club crowd funding page which we are using to collect subs and donations alike and that we hope to have match funded by Sport England. However, Sport England are requesting two more items from the club before approving the funding:

  • The club needs to produce a video of short clips showing our members and players being active and requesting that we "Keep Acklam Active". We already have a couple of these from Kerr Everett and Dave Dawson, so thanks for starting us off.
  • They also want us to show community involvement with businesses offering goods or services as rewards for specific donations, say a free haircut when you donate £20. However, our existing sponsors are predominantly industrial in nature.

Therefore we are asking all members to consider making a short video clip and send it to Mark, preferably via WhatsApp to 07519733539 or via email at acklamrufc@gmail.com. Also, if you have a business or know someone who does, are you able to support our funding application by donating goods or services to the cause? Limits can be set on the number of items that are provided.

Donations / subs can be paid through our crowdfunding page https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/fund-raiser

Thanks in anticipation of your support UTA!
