ACKLAM 91 V SEATON 0

Festival rugby at Talbot Park as Acklam secures promotion to Durham and Northumberland Division 1 with three games still to be played. Acklam scored 13 tries and once again Danny Ashton converted everyone; Danny’s kicking has been amazing throughout the season.

Dan Burns at No. 7 has had a few quiet games of late but to-day he opened the scoring after ten minutes and he continued to have an aspired game. On the 13 minute Ashley Speight made his first of many decisive breaks which resulted in James Ffitch scoring the second try. Only minutes later, from a scrum the ball went wide and Andrew Dalton scored the third try. After only 21 minutes Acklam secured the bonus point with the fourth try, as Ashley Speight did the damage and Shaun Richardson scored the try. On the 27th minute mark winger Ben Dickenson scored his first of four tries. The 32nd minute once again the back row linked up as Ashley Speight made the crucial break and James Ffitch got his second try of the game. The 34th minute Acklam took a quick penalty and Lee Richardson split the Seaton defence and ran in a try under the post. The last try of the half came from Andy Dunn on the wing. Breath taking rugby by Acklam ended the half, H.T. 56-0.

Seaton Carew to their credit came out fighting for their pride and they succeeded as their game improved in the second half. The first try of the half came after 54 minutes when Ben Dickenson scored his second try. At this stage of the game Acklam moved the team around, Dave Richardson replaced Shaun Richardson at scrum half who had created all sorts of problems for Seaton in the first half. Dave Richardson was playing his first game for two years and he had more than just a solid start, first at scrum half before moving to fly-half. Lee Richardson was replaced by Chris Walker who sprinted 50 meters to score a try on the 65th minute. Ben Dickenson scored the next two tries after clever play by Acklam, both tries scored from 70 meters out. Andrew Dalton ended the scoring on the 75th minute mark.

This was a tremendous performance by Acklam as the whole squad were involved, this again emphasises the importance of having a strong squad playing for one another. Well done lads!
