Dunn gets 5 tries in another big win for Acklam

Whilst not quite reaching the level of the previous week Acklam earned another big win against Sedgefield, with superb finishing by returning winger Andy Dunn bringing him 5 tries.
Acklam went ahead in the first 5 minutes when second row Paddy O'Brien gave a good pass for Dunn to score in the corner. The home side increased their lead a couple of minutes later - from a line out they went through a number of phases in midfield before second row Danny Moss burst through a couple of tackles to go over near the posts. The conversion was missed, but Acklam had an early 10 nil lead. Midway through the half Acklam stole the ball from a Sedgefield scrum, set up a ruck and home scrum half Len Hogg cleverly picked up and darted over for a good sniping try. This time stand off Marcus Sudron converted to increase Acklam's lead to 17 points.
Acklam were well on top and after a Sedgefield knock on the home team went blind from the scrum and Dunn was again able to score out wide. Sedgefield didn't help themselves by failing to kick the restart 10 metres and after recycling the ball from the resulting scrum Acklam again got the ball to Dunn who went inside the last defender to score a first half hat trick. Sudron kicked the conversion over off the bar to increase the lead to 29 nil.
Sedgefield were eventually able to get themselves into the game and after a period of concerted pressure scored a try of their own to make the score 29 - 5 at half time.
The balance of play was more even in the second half but Acklam were still producing enough moments of quality to increase their lead. From a five metre scrum they moved the out wide left then back the other way to allow O'Brien to gallop over. Then just before the hour mark Acklam intercepted the ball in midfield, then recycled it for Hogg to put Dunn in again . A few minutes later Dunn had five tries for the match when his team mates ran a penalty to put him clear yet again. The scoring was completed by centre Ricky Scott who managed to make a clean catch when charging down an attempted clearance and ran in unopposed. The game ended in a very comfortable 53 - 5 win for the league leaders.
