Barnard Castle took the game to Acklam in the first 10 minutes which they had three separate driving mauls attempts at the Acklam line, but stern defending by Acklam kept the visitors out. In the twelve minute Acklam took their first opportunity in the visitors 22 meters when after some good rugby resulted in Danny Ashton scoring, 7-0. Although Acklam led at this stage of the game they were giving away far too many penalties. After 22 minutes Acklam were taking control of the game as they looked far more threatening and from a scrum in the visitors 22 meters, a blind side move put in the 'Man of the Match' Josh Abraham, 14-0.
In the 35th minute some clever open play by Acklam resulted in Captain 'Bo-Bo' scoring,21-0. Just before the half-time whistle, an Acklam scrum in the visitors 22 meters, allowed Marcus Sudron to slot Chris Walker into space for the bonus try, H.T. 28-0.
The second half started with some exciting open play by Acklam which resulted in Josh Abraham scoring his second try, 35-0. In the 45th minute Acklam made some changes, Danny and Pedro came off for Alex Faint and debutant Lewis Mace. The following 25 minutes consisted of Acklam playing in the visitors half but not being able to penetrate their defensive line. In the 70th minute Acklam went down to 14 men, but in the 75th minute they won a 5 meter line- out and drove over for Chris Walker (centre) to score, F.T. 40-0
