13 Try Hustlers do the double over Guisborough
A forward heavy Acklam team made its way to Guisborough in a positive mood after beating Darlington II’s last week.
Before kick off the talk was about playing well from the off, something which has occasionally been missing this season, and boy did we respond.
Guisborough really made us work for it in the forwards, but we just wanted it more, Number 8 Ethan Ogle opened the scoring and then flanker Andy Broere followed up with 2 tries. Hooker Bobby Marks was next to get his name on the scoresheet, full back Pete Stentiford added another before Andy Broere completed his first half hat trick.
Tom Jones, playing his second ever game of rugby scored his first senior try in a glowing advertisement for Return to Rugby, Bobby Marks and Chris Mallam added another 1 each before half time.
Half Time: Guisborough 0 - 55 Acklam
For the second half Guisborough were loaned Mathew Watson and newcomer James Sharrocks, playing a full 80 minutes in his first start (another Return to Rugby player who’d had a blinding game) and they started brightly absolutely determined to put a try on the board, and they did just that.
Acklam were given a wake up call, tried from Wayne Davidson, a double from Thomas Langrick, and another from Ben Snaith rounded off the scoring. Full Time: Guisborough 5 - Acklam 81.
A fantastic, free flowing display by all. Couldn’t pick a man of match if I wanted to everybody who put a shirt worked hard.
Don’t forget Return to Rugby on Wednesdays if you know anyone who might want to get playing, other than that see you on Saturday. #UTA.
