Thompson made almost 500 appearances for Gorleston as a player, before stepping up as joint manager of the Greens.
On his appointment, Thompson said “he was delighted to take charge of the club, and was well aware of the recent Sterry Cup titles the Bridewell Lane club had won.” He added “the club have excellent facilities, are well supported and he can’t wait to get started.”
Thompson will take charge of matters on Saturday, when Blofield United visit the A’s in what promises to a pivotal local derby, with both clubs currently sitting in the bottom four of the table.
