With a strong wind blowing down the ground and the match played in driving rain United went against the elements in the first half and were without last weeks Man of the Match Sam Brooks who had to withdraw prior to kick off.
Acle began the brighter and held the advantage during the first 15 minutes but it was the home side that took a surprise lead. After winning a corner the ball took off in the wind directly from the flag kick and flew into the top corner giving Bilham little chance. The Black Dogs then came more into the game as a knock down was volleyed just over.
Forder was showing up well and after neat work played in Dalamo
but his shot was well defended.
The A's were fortunate not to concede when Halifax missed his tackle but nothing came of it.
Luca Upton then showed his skills to beat two men, before a super cross to Dalamo, whose header was gathered on the goal line.
Forder was having another top game and beat his man to cross for Upton but his shot hit the post.
It was Forder again this time giving Attree a shot that was gathered in by the Dogs keeper. A free kick saw Mason head powerfully over but then he lost control in his own box but Bungay couldn't finish, as the Suffolk side hung on to their 1-0 lead at the break.
The second half began with the dogs heading just over.
Dalamo was having another good game and after leaving his man for dead pulled the ball back but it was put out for a corner.
The equaliser came with the United managers combining as Barraclough took another long throw with Mason coming off his man to flick on into the top corner for a wonderful goal and one each.
Ross Bilham then launched downfield and with Dalamo too quick for his marker he drew the keeper and cooly found the net for 2-1. United used all 3 subs and it was Blackett who found Crowe who again showed some nice touches but his shot was beaten away.
The Town shouted for a penalty not given by the excellent referee and with Axtem again showing up well, it was Bilham who saved the day when he threw himself to his right to prevent what looked to be the equaliser.
United lost Howell and Dalamo to injury, but this was a vital win for the A's and with the possibility of a top new face coming to Bridewell Lane, recent momentum is likely to be maintained.
