On a day when gale force winds affected conditions, the A's took on the elements in the first half but played their impressive brand of push and run football to lead 3-1 at the break.
Coleto-Colo played in Smith early on but Hewitt in the away goal saved the day. Then the hard-working Forder found Smith but once again he was denied by the keeper.
At the other end a rear Scole attack led to a scramble inside the Acle box but the ball was cleared to safety. Diggens then crossed for Smith who saw his shot inches wide.
On 20 minutes Tooley held off his man and showing a great turn of pace delivered a pin point cross to Luke Thacker who finished in style for 1-0. Acle added a second when Diggens's shot rebounded off the keeper only for Brooks to double the Acle lead.
Scole pulled a goal back when Betts headed home from a corner for 2-1. Smith and Thacker were causing all sorts of problems up front for United, and after good control by Thacker, Tooley smashed the ball into the net for a 3-1 half time advantage.
After the break the hard-working Smith chased down a lost cause before turning his man and rifling the ball home for 4-1. Then the evergreen Daniel Foreman produced another one of his champagne moments as he floated the ball over the keeper from the half way line for Acle to go nap on the scoreboard.
Acle continued to dominate proceedings as Thacker went close, before Tooley saw his header well gathered under the bar by Hewitt. Foreman had another free kick just over the bar, before Tooley shot wide with the keeper to beat.
Bull-Anthony up from the back almost scored but his rasping shot was beaten away by Hewitt before the same player saw his header skim the bar after a long throw into the box. Referee Meale was clearly the best seen at Bridewell Lane this season, and this Acle performance was just as good.
