Another large crowd gathered to see the A’s turn round a two-goal deficit, in a game that niether side deserved to lose.
Eddie Thompson took charge of matters in his first game and lost no time in bringing in ex Green Tom Daniels, together with former Acle brothers Hayden and Chris Gibbons.
Acle had to contend with a stiff wind early doors but created plenty, in a match that from the get go was fiercely contested.
Warminger showed great skill to play in D’Rosario but the young winger spurned a glorious chance with just the keeper to beat. Warminger was busy throughout and then nodded on for the same player to shoot wide.
Forder found himself in space and drove his shot against a defender as the Beavers soaked up the pressure. Robinson tested Foreman in the home goal but he was more than up to the task.
Fryers was a real handful for the Acle rear-guard all afternoon, but it was the A’s that should have gone in front when Cooper found himself in space with just the keeper to beat. The Beavers went ahead 1-0 when Mace lost his marker to head home from a corner.
Fryers saw his free kick headed away by Daniels and the Beavers went into the break holding a one goal advantage.
Acle had the wind at their backs in the second half and early pressure saw D’Rosario beat his man before shooting at the keeper. Worse was to come for the A’s when the ball broke to Wright in the box and he crashed the ball home for 2-0.
So, to the derby day comeback, as Foreman floated his free kick into the box for Warminger to head goalwards, volleyed home by Mackenzie for 2-1. Acle were then throwing everything at the Beavers but Cooper couldn’t quite finish a wonderful move.
Warminger along with Freyers, were competing for man of the match, and the Acle frontman then played in Forder who squeezed the ball in from the acutest of angles for 2-2.
So, to the final script, and with all the Acle players believing in a winning goal, and with injury time approaching, Rob Warminger raced onto a through ball to plant the ball into an empty net to secure the points and complete the comeback.
D’Rosario still had time to hit the post as both teams put on a typical derby day showing, just the result manager Thompson wanted in his first game in charge.
