Acomb Ladies had their final home fixture of the season against lowly Chapeltown 1 starting without injured skipper Kerry Woods. The tangerines controlled the first half with George Wood setting up most of any possible chances which just failed to find a home attacker to slip home. A goalless half with so much possession was scant reward but undeterred after 12 minutes of the second period Hannah Yoward’s swept shot from a penalty corner deflected of a visitors foot into the goal. 3 minutes later in one of a few sorties the visitors levelled in open play but unconcerned soon regained the advantage when Kiera Wood strike from her mother’s pass sped passed the visiting keeper. On a roll with more possession Wood drove into the circle and found Jess Slater who netted well 5 minutes later. In the final four minutes the tangerines struck again this time from a penalty corner by Woods senior to leave a deserved 4-1 victory to leave them in third place with 1 game remaining after Easter on level points with second placed Halifax 2 who have two fixtures remaining.
