Welcome back everyone,

I hope you had a restful half-term and managed to spend a bit of down time with your families. This week is the second round of our annual cup competition. Unlike previous seasons the competition is on a knock-out basis so presents a real challenge to progress as far as we can.

As I explained at our kick off meeting at the start of the season, it is the only competition we take "semi-seriously" and as such the team selection is biased towards winning rather than development. I have discussed this with the boys and collectively they are in agreement that it would be nice to win a gold sprayed plastic trophy. There is a clear understanding that all the boys in the squad will take part in the cup games, with the objective being they play at least 30 mins. in any game they are selected for with a little give or take based on how the game is going.

The selection is based on form and effort and attendance at training.

For this weeks game the following players are rested/unavailable

Rested: Harry Macro, Rory Wilkie and Harrison Snipp.
Unavailable: Luca Hazell.

All these boys will take part in the next game, provided we are through. Given we are playing a team from a lower division that have struggled with results the odds are in our favour but we shouldn't take success as a forgone conclusion. The selected boys will have to play well.
