It was the first opportunity for Manager Trevor Smith to take a proper look at his newly formed youth side. For the players it was a first taste of the Southern Youth League and playing under lights and the home side too advantage to record a convincing 10-0 victory.
In the first half the Young Rams held Hanworth Villa for nearly half an hour before they gave away a penalty. Trailing by that spot kick they should have scored when after a good move and excellent cross Jordan Barnes wasn't able to apply the finish. The home side scored two more goals before the break but despite being 0-3 down it had been a first 45 minutes that had some positives to draw on.
The second half saw the difference in fitness come through and with Hanworth Villa exploiting the Young Rams lack of experience playing as a team and playing at this level they started to rattle in the goals. Goalkeeper Jacques Michell made some good saves and despite the goals going in continued to show the leadership that had earned him the Captain's armband.
Despite being 0-10 down the Young Rams did have the ball in the back of the net as Levelle Brown headed in but was adjudged to have committed a foul in doing so although exactly what he had done remains a mystery.
Under league rules the opposition .awarded our player of the match to Ife Akinade who worked hard throughout.
