Both sides emerged with credit from this keenly contested game that was eventually won by a Gus Ward free kick.

The home side took the lead after 10 minutes when they seized on some indecisive defending and slotted the ball home. It was the first clear chance of the opening exchanges as both sides tried to get a grip on the game.

The equaliser came on 28 minutes and it was an excellent effort by midfielder Luke Tan. Picking the ball up he closed in on the penalty area, moved the ball onto his right foot and then curled the ball into the far corner with an unstoppable shot. It was enough to ensure that it was all square for the half-time break.

Having made a couple of changes it was the Young Rams who took the lead early in the second. Again Tan picked up the ball in midfield but this time he worked his way into the area with quick feet and close control. He rounded the goalkeeper and slotted it into the empty net.

Sandhurst were not going to let the game slip away lightly and gradually increased their share of the play as they looked for the equaliser. George Ennor pulled off a good save as he went full stretch to push a curled shot around the post. But Sandhurst seemed to be getting closer and on 70 minutes it was all square again as they forced home the ball after it bounced around in the area.

With seven minutes to go the home side gave away a free kick just outside the area. Gus Ward made it his own and the curling shot seemed to confuse the goalkeeper who could only push it into the roof of the net.

Perhaps the only down side was a very soft red card for the Sandhurst full back. The extremely harsh dismissal that wasn't necessary at all was the only blight on what had been an otherwise good performance by the referee.

The Young Rams now move onto the Final on Thursday 5th May when they will face either Chertsey Town or Bedfont Sports at Frimley Green FC.
