Unbeaten on Armistice Day

Sunday 11th November 2012

On this day in 2012, AFC Kirk Hallam hosted Stanton Reserves in the Long Eaton Sunday League Senior Cup. A brace from Antony Ridgway and a goal from Jake Pearson took the team through to the next round with a 3 - 2 victory over their local rivals. It is also worth noting that this was the first in a very rare three match goalless run for Marek Smith, having bagged ten goals in his previous eight matches.

Saturday 11th November 2017

In 2017, the under 11's went away to Gedling Southbank Blue with a 100% away record in the league. Within ten minutes, they had embarrassed themselves enough to be 3 - 0 down and hadn't recovered by half time, going in 4 - 0 down. Stern words kicked them into gear in the second half and within five minutes it was 4 - 3, followed by another two goals to put Kirk Hallam in front. A late own goal gave Gedling a fifth to make it 5 - 5 at full time and undeservedly maintained Kirk Hallams' unbeaten away record. A Ben Morley hat trick and a Will Dudley brace rescued the point for the boys.

Sunday 11th November 2018

Last year saw the reserves and the under 18's in action.

The reserves hosted The Sportsman in the Long Eaton Sunday League Division 2. A couple of goals from Simon Chambers fired the home team to victory and back to the top of the league, albeit with the two teams below having a game in hand.

The under 18's travelled to local rivals Eastwood Town in the hope of getting revenge after their penalty loss in the cup a few weeks previous. A goal apiece for Charlie Roach and Brad Mitchell gave them a draw, leaving them unbeaten over 90 minutes in 5 matches against Eastwood in 13 months.
