AFC Portchester have already revealed they are receiving £3,000 towards a new kitchen facility from Howdens as part of their Game Changer scheme.
Installation work on the new kitchen is continuing at pace and is expected to be fully completed in the next few weeks.
Once finished it will provide a new serving area on match days for food and drink direct from the terrace area and the new facility will also support the club’s critically acclaimed matchday hospitality which is hosted in The Castle Suite.
The club has now secured a grant of just over £45,000 from the Premier League Stadium Fund’s Club Development Fund for renovations on some of the current buildings inside the stadium.
The funding, which is administered by the Football Foundation, will allow for the replacement of flat roofing on several buildings, including the main clubhouse and first team changing room block and storage area.
Additional works will see a whole host of plumbing improvements take place, which will include bringing back into use showers and toilets for use in the home dressing room block and the replacement of some other fixtures and fittings.
Once the flat roofing has been replaced there will also be remedial works where it is needed to repair walls, flooring and ceilings damaged where water has started to penetrate the roof surface.
If you include the funding the club is also putting into the kitchen and flat roofing projects, around £60,000 is being invested in the stadium’s facilities this summer.
Chairman Paul Kelly said: “We are always adding new facilities to enhance the stadium but it is also important that we maintain the buildings we have that are already in place and have served us well.
“The roof on the first team changing room block is particularly bad, with some panels coming away from the ceiling, and where water comes through the roof this creates mould and damp in some areas too.
“These are obviously not great conditions to use for changing in or for storing important equipment.
“The funding we have received will also allow us to bring back into use toilets and showers that have not been used for some time now, so the grant support we are receiving is going to be fantastic for the club.
“Spectators might not be able to spot the roofing and plumbing works when they visit the stadium but these are essential works to help us maintain the high standards we have set with our facilities.
“The new kitchen facility is nearing completion now and that too will be in place for the new season, making it easier to prepare and serve food for our hospitality guests and providing another outlet in the ground for supporters to purchase food and drink.
“On behalf of the club I would like to thank the Premier League Stadium Fund, Howdens and the Football Foundation for all of their support for the vital renovation works we will be carrying out during the close season.”
