League Cup Match
03rd December
Long Crendon (A)
This Sunday was our first venture into Regional Cup action and it meant a road trip up the A34 for a tie against Northern Region Division One side Long Crendon.
The group arrived to a gloomy rain drenched Long Crendon venue and seemingly a possible postponement on the cards if the weather conditions persisted, which fortunately didn't happen.
The ladies started well against a very good and well drilled side, with both teams going toe to toe for the 20 minutes.
The deadlock was broken when EILIDH CURRIE picked up a loose ball some 30 yards out and beating the keeper who had no chance. One soon became two in similar style with EILIDH CURRIE again beating the keeper from distance.
The game seemed secure just before half time with AIMEE HALL-GUY who replaced the unavailable Charmaine True smartly beating the keeper from the edge of the penalty area into the top left hand corner.
The half closed with our no1 Roxy Roberts picking up a rib injury in a brave 50/50 challenge with the Long Crendon player and was to be replaced at the whistle for HT.
HT 0-3
With Eilidh Currie stepping up to take responsibility for the gloves, the ladies were not to be phased and continued where they left off with Sophie Bell who must have run enough throughout the game to get back to Portchester delivering a pinpoint cross for AIMEE HALL-GUY to get her second before being replaced.
Enter MILLIE BRADBURY coming off the bench and some entrance it was! Scoring 2 well worked goals and battling for everything, superb.
The game ended with the ladies digging in for everything and having to go long to play the deteriorating pitch conditions which was a credit to them all.
FT 0-6
Great cup tie in which Long Crendon certainly played their part. Into the next round!
POTM - Lynsey Crewe-Way, contested every ball in the middle of the park.
Next up its possibly a midweek Combined Counties Cup clash Portsmouth U23s (A), but we await confirmation.
Should this game go ahead it could see some changes made and a chance for the squad to be utilised.
Failing that it's another road trip! This time a league trip to Abbey Rangers.
