Aldridge RFC are pleased to announce the appointment of James Arnold to the position of Director of Rugby for the 2019/2020 season

Aldridge RFC are pleased to announce the appointment of James (“Big Jim”) Arnold to the position of Director of Rugby for the 2019/2020 season - Jim is a club legend who has only this season dropped down into the 2nd XV and continues to play regularly.

Jim will amongst other duties be directly responsible for player recruitment and most importantly retention, and will provide the link between the players and the club, whilst giving Head Coach, Jon Arch, a direct line to report to. We believe Jim's experience, and personality makes him the perfect fit.

Chairman Nathan Scully said “This was a position that Jon has pushed for, and Jim was the standout candidate; he is respected by everyone at the club; we see the Director Of Rugby appointment as a real marker as to our commitment to continue to grow on the recent success of the club both on and off the pitch."

Following promotion from Midlands 5 in the 2017/18 season, this season Aldridge RFC currently sit in a respectable position at mid-table in Midlands 4 West North, despite a number of the league winning side moving or hanging up their boots and at times an almost crippling injury list. Training numbers have been excellent through the cold winter months and the Second XV are playing weekly, and we are close to pushing for a 3rd XV/Social/Vets team at times

“It bears testament to work put in by the Captains, Coach and the likes of Big Jim, that we have most weeks put out a Second XV, even on weeks when we had over 30 players unavailable” added Nathan. “The coach has put his faith in youth, with our backline especially now far more youthful looking than previous seasons - we believe we are on the start of a what could be a very special journey for everyone involved in the club. We want our club to be one where everyone has a chance to play rugby to the best of their ability regardless of experience or age”.

"The club are continuing to look to strengthen their management and coaching/support team over the summer months, and welcome offers of help from all quarters. We will also be launching a new 20/20 Sponsorship initiative in the coming weeks for the coming season - which will start at as little as £20.00 per month; we hope this is a real way we can engage with the local community - and visa-versa - we need our sponsors to see a Return On Investment” added Nathan.

Aldridge RFC train every Tuesday and Thursday night from 7.00pm - The Memorial Ground in Bourne Vale is also the new home of the Wolverhampton Wolverines Australian Rules Football Club. Many of our players play both sports and are seeing massive benefits for dual participation with 2 achieving International Recognition in Aussie Rules this year.
