U18’s Girls show class in first game back!
Excellent win in a good spirited but tough physical game v Northern delivering a great win with support, hard work and great team spirit. So good to see, well done girls!
After nearly 2 years away from a competitive 15 a side match wearing an Alnwick jersey our U18’s girls are back! There was some nervous excitement as the younger U16’s girls joined the team for the first time. But with calm experience from our older players, the younger ones really rose to the occasion. We showed power up front against some strong defence, but our support play and quick offloads proved to be too much in the end. We started with a direct style of play really testing our opponents defence, and then moved it wide to our speed merchants out wide. A good mix of attacking styles and use of all players kept the defenders guessing.
Northern came back strongly in the last 15 minutes in which we had to really put in a tackling shift. In the end our first half dominance was enough to see us through.
