Alnwick 2nds vs Westoe

Having lost the previous week by 1 point, Alnwick were looking to bounce back to winning ways and, with Westoe bringing some big forwards, it was looking to be an interesting battle. On the front foot from the off, two penalties inside the first 8 minutes saw Alnwick 6-0 up. However, 10 minutes saw the first scrum and a chance to see how the packs squared up.

Alnwick immediately drove Westoe back and the resulting ball flew out to the right wing where Alnwick barrelled through players with the ball ending up in "Tiger's" hands to score with Evan Moir slotting over the conversion 13-0. This proved to be a portent of things to come for Westoe and a well-worn path for Alnwick to score. Westoe spent the rest of the half pinned back in their own territory; bar the odd foray into Alnwick's half. Alnwick's dominance allowed them to put the ball about and run onto Westoe with abandon from all areas of the park. Tries came at 20/28 and 30 minutes, all converted leaving it 34-0 at halftime.

The second-half brought no relief for Westoe: Alnwick scoring under the posts almost from the whistle 41-0. The tries then kept coming with Shaun Atkinson and "Snapper's" blistering pace crashing through the Westoe line time and again. With Westoe mired in their own half and unable to get out, even the inevitable personnel changes couldn't halt the deluge. At 86-0 the ref finally blew up to halt the game. There's not enough room to itemise the outstanding play from every team member but the highlights were 26 points from the boot of Moir, and triple tries each for "Tiger", "Snapper" and Atkinson.
