Local derby against our friends from Morpeth - great day, fantastic weather and what a result.

Our first away trip of the season was to Morpeth and we were looking forward to our first game on a full size pitch.

All players who travelled received at least 40 minutes of match time with the coaches rotating the squad throughout the game.

Under hot sunshine Morpeth kicked off and our forwards took the game straight back to Morpeth like they'd never just had four months off. Great play by Burn allowed our backs to run free before Dodds crossed for the first try after five minutes. Nesbitt converted for an early 7-0 lead. From the kick off good attacking play from Cranston forced Morpeth back before we conceded a scrum. A superb heel against the head by debutant Cummings won the scrum for Alnwick which allowed scrum half Stewart the space to jink and jive over the line for a trademark try. 12-0.

Good forward work by Burke and Comber again allowed Renner the time to crash over for a 17-0 lead. The resulting kick off took allowed our backs to run free and a sublime run from Flannigan released Robson who found Humphreys and finally Dodds to score his second. 22-0. Dodds then scored his third try of the game after 20mins to provide a 27-0 lead.

Changes were made but the tries kept coming with a typically robust performance from Pettifer allowing him the room to score. 32-0. It was the backs turn again and a wonderful running line, then change of direction by Young allowed him the space to score for a 37-0 lead.

Great forward work from Kelly and Bell allowed Graham to break free before the forwards took the ball forward again. Great work from Green released the ball to the backs and an amazing performance from Comber was topped with a superb try under the posts, converted by Nesbitt for a 44-0 lead. The changes were made again to rest some who had played 40 minutes of tough rugby.

Both sides were tiring but this allowed Sinton (Hash-man) the space he loves and he forced his way over for a well-deserved try which was converted by Nesbitt for 51-0. Hobson then scored from his wing with great running, closely followed by Young who scored his second for 61-0. Two late tries from Pettifer gave us a 71-0 result which was harsh on Morpeth who played really well, especially up front.

All in all a great performance with Comber picking up man of the match
