Alnwick Rugby Club U12s recently travelled south to face Novos RFC. The first of three matches got off to a flying start with a try from Novos. Alnwick however replied quickly with a brilliant score from Tom Clark, despite feeling decidedly under the wearher. Levi Haughie demonstrated some excellent tackling, but a couple of fumbled passes meant Novos gained possession and scored twice more. Fighting back, Jack Plumley claimed a try, which was quickly followed by James Anderson leveling the scoreboard. Unfortunately Novos answered with a winning try in the final seconds of the game.
The Second game began well, with the boys showing a renewed approach of taking every opportunity possible. This quickly paid off with two tries from Joseph Ball, supported well all the way by Josh Embleton. Shortly afterwards Taylor Tuer stormed through the opposition to score again. More tries followed from Novos and despite superb scores from James Anderson and Ollie Thew, Alnwick lost by one try.
In the final game Alnwick battled hard, playing against a fresh-legged second Novos team. Harvey Dunn and James Watson both scored great tries as a result of some super passing and fantastic rucking from Finlay Telfer. Novos answered with more tries, giving spectators an exciting finale.
The Alnwick team put in a great effort, despite a depleted squad due to illness and should be very proud of their performance.
