AK secure promotion from Lancs & Cheshire Div 1

Altrincham Kersal travelled to Rochdale on a bright, sunny, but bitterly cold day for the final match in their quest to finish the season top of the Lancs/Cheshire Division One League.
Never an easy place to come away with a result it was Rochdale who opened the scoring with a penalty.
Altrincham Kersal soaked up the pressure and began to apply their own. A driving forwards move saw Mallaband crash over for their first try to be followed shortly later by an excellent break from the backs which saw John Coulson give a sublime offload to his brother James who raced in at the corner.
The teams went into half time with the score at 3-10.
Rochdale started the second half with a further penalty making the score 6-10. However some solid work by the visitors resulted in a driving move from the forwards and Dios went over for the try. The score was now 6-15 in Altrincham's favour.
Rochdale were far from finished and countered with a try to make the score 11-15.
Altrincham Kersal kept up their unrelenting pressure with a try by Pitt which was converted by Daldry.
Rochdale replied with a converted try of their own and the match finished at 18-22.
The match boiled down to fantastic effort from the forwards in all aspects of the game especially the scrum and driving mauls and some very good handling and tactical kicking from the backs, and of course some epic defence from the whole side.
This bonus point win saw Altrincham Kersal finish the season as Champions of Lancs/Cheshire Division One with 105 points at the top of the table, 7 clear points ahead of local rivals Bowdon.
