LOCKDOWN DIARY: Under 11 78's Coach Joe Martin

LOCKDOWN DIARY: Under 11 78's Coach Joe Martin

Adam Etheridge28 Apr 2020 - 15:00

With the nation still in lockdown, we’re talking to the Nomads Junior Coaches to see what they’re doing to keep themselves entertained.

Today we hear from Joe Martin to see what he's up to after his nomination from Bryn Foweather.

Hello Joe, thanks for taking part. What are you doing to stay in shape?

I have been done some home exercising but mainly I have been doing a lot of jogging. It’s been good getting back into running and I’ve found some great hills that I will be using to get the boys fit in pre-season.

What message would you like to send to your young players?

Try and turn a negative situation into a positive one. Go out in the garden to work on close control and skills, make it fun by setting challenges etc. Other than that enjoy this time with your family and I look forward to seeing you all when the time comes.

Which TV show will you be binging?

To be honest I am little behind on TV shows so we have been catching up, currently we are watching Line of Duty. Other than that I have been enjoying classic comedies.

If you only had one film to watch during lockdown, which would it be?

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, has a lot of memories.

If you only had one album to listen to, which would it be?

I have quite a varied taste but I’d have to go for "Definitely Maybe" by Oasis. Classic album from beginning to end.

Which footballer or sportsperson would you want to be locked down with?

Claudio Ranieri, firstly I’m sure he has some great pasta recipes. Seriously, he is a coach I have always admired even before he came to Leicester. As a coach I could learn a lot from him and I’d love to hear his stories about how he achieved the impossible in 2016.

Which food do you wish you'd hoarded for the lockdown?

Luckily we have plenty of pasta. But one thing I am craving has to be fish and chips from the chippy.

Is there anything else that you've been doing to pass the time?

I have really enjoyed exploring and appreciating the local area on our family walks. There’s so much more on our doorstep than we realise!

Which Nomads Coach are you nominating to go next?

I’m nominating Paul Sills from the Under 9 78's & Under 11 47's.

Thanks Joe.
