Match report 17/4/2018
JUMPER ANTS V LIGHTNING
FINAL SCORE : 49-23
The Team came thinking this would be easy but Lightning started strong in their attack and rain again affected our play and control over the ball in the first quarter, leaving us very close at quarter time with the score standing at 8-7.
In the second quarter the whole team came back with much greater confidence and more comfortable with the conditions. TORA STANISTREET (Captain) moved the ball well from centre and Harri and Rosella using the full width and depth of the circle made the shooting look easy work. This coupled with shorter balls meant greater control of the ball too. JUMPERS were on a streak with several interceptions and turnovers in every area of the court finishing at half time at 21-12.
The third quarter saw our attack continue to push forward, with every ANTs centre pass resulting in a goal and many interceptions from the defence who were reading the inward balls with much more precision enabling the counter-attack as the following conversions increased the score by 9 goals to their 7, ending the third quarter as 30-19.
The FINAL quarter saw JUMPERS steal the show, with continuing confidence as the smooth passing down the court finding the pockets to feed balls into the shooters who were working the circle space to their advantage and gaining a further 19 goals comfortably. Overall the confidence boosted the Defence who by now were also stronger, with only 4 goals converted by lightning. The whole team ended with a pleasing win of 49 to 23 to finish their Winter Season of games.
Moving forward, we need to work on back line passes, using the D to give options for the GK and avoid losing possession. We also need to ensure we call out more to show options.
Super result for our last match! Was lovely to watch you all (Report by Christine Tigwell - injured Jumper player)
