Breakaways Club History
The club was formed on the 7th March 2002 for the youngsters of the local villages as an alternative to the bigger and more established clubs in town.
After playing a couple of local friendlies the team won it's first game with two breakaway goals from the halfway line and so the club gained its name.
In 2011 the club had 192 children playing football in the following age groups:
Under 18s, Unders 16s, Under 15s, Under 14s, Under 13s, Under 12s, Under 11s, Under 10s (two groups), Under 9s and Under 8s.
The Club was awarded the F.A. Charter Standard in September 2004 in recognition of its work with children, this meant that all managers became qualified coaches, first aiders and were CRB security checked. In addition the F.A. Charter Standard also means that the Club, the Players, the Coaches, the Team Officials and last but by no means least, the Parents/Spectators all agree to abide by a Code of Conduct.
Breakaways finally ended as a club in its present format in May 2012 with the stepping down of the Chairman.
Faced with the break up of our team (quite a few of the lads have played together since the beginning of their age group in 2008)we are pleased to have joined Apollo FC and have become their Under 11 side for the 2012-2013 season.
