Last Friday evening was a special evening at the Aviva Stadium prior to the Ireland v New Zealand match for the Heron family.
Past club President & coach David Heron along with his wife Ann and grandson and Ards Rugby player Conor McCullough were reunited with All Blacks Head Coach Scott Robertson 31years after he as an 18yr old spent a season living with Davy & Ann at the their home between Greyabbey & Kircubbin whilst playing rugby at Ards and working on building sites alongside Conor’s dad.
The respect & love that Scott has for the Heron family is clearly evident and even though he has one of the biggest jobs in world rugby he’s on record as saying how much his time with the Heron family and at Ards Rugby shaped him for life.
That’s what rugby is all about and especially values that we at Ards Rugby hold dear!!
