Whilst most people at Hamilton Park where watching Ireland get beat by Wales on Saturday, Ards 2nds hosted Armagh, Ards had requested an early kick off but Armagh strangely wouldn't agree to this.
This match was a special occassion as father and son Stephen and Taylor Nutt played together for the first time in a competitive game of rugby, this was also 18yr old Taylor's senior rugby debut after playing for Regent House this season.
Unfortunately despite both playing well, with the old guy showing he can still offer something and Taylor not looking out of place at centre, Ards were defeated by a more clinical Armagh team.
In a game which saw Ards completely dominate the scrum (winning at least 6 balls against the head) and the Ards lineout function reasonably well, it was Armagh's ability to break quickly and decisively that won them the game.
Ards scorers were centre Oren Kisby with a well deserved try and Taylot Nutt with a conversion and a penalty.
It was great to see the Ards 2nds team being competitive again, with impressive performances from hooker Sam McVeigh, the back row of Ryan Yates, Benn Laird and Jack Coulter and centres Taylor Nutt and Oren Kisby.
Special mention to Ards U18s Ethan Dodge who stepped in to the wing after a player pulling up in the warm up.
