First team - 6 months at Derby at Derby County (First team with George Burley as manager), with young players like Tom Huddlestone, Giles Barners, Lee Holmes (who was the youngest ever Derby County player until Mason Bennett beat his record) and Lee Camp, all involved with the First Team.
Moved on to Mansfield Town Football Club after not earning a contract at Derby County.

Retired at Lincoln City after Career ending knee injury (Nearly completely rupturing the Patella Tendon)

Coaching Career:

Once retired, got a Job with Paul Holland (old Manager at Mansfield Town) at Ilkeston FC as Academy Development Manager, coaching players who just missed out on getting into the Academy which were managed by former Derby County and Chelsea striker Kevin Wilson and former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Darren Caskey. These players would work with Wayne on a full time basis, working on improving parts of their game in an attempt to earn a place in the Academy. After a few years Wayne eventually moved up to Ilkeston FC Academy/U21s Coach, making history with the Academy getting to the 3rd round proper of the FA Youth Cup, beating two Category 3 sides (Shrewsbury Town and Burton Albion) along the way, eventually losing to Premier League side Newcastle United 3-2 in front of a crowd of well over 1000 people, finishing Runners up in the U21 league Cup, and Runners up in the Conference Youth Alliance. Following this success later earning an opportunity to be Ilkeston FC Assistant Manager (1st Team) alongside former Scotland National Team Assistant Manager Andy Watson and Peterborough United legend Steve Welsh in the Evo Stik Premier for a few games.

Wayne also coached and developed 4 Players who went on to earn Professional Contracts at clubs, including Lewis Walker, the son of World Cup 1990 Semi Finalist Des Walker, who signed a 2 year pro contract at Derby County.
