Girls Rugby

Ashbourne Rugby Club have just completed a very successful run of 5 after school introduction sessions for girls with the help of Queen Elizabeth’s PE Dept. Led by club level 2 coaches Adrian Daniel & Mike Allen the girls experienced skills based session which will hopefully lead to the club running under 18 & under 15 teams in September. Over the 5 weeks 38 girls attended at least one session with at least 25 present on each early evening.
The club are now asking for volunteers (normally parents but not necessarily) to contact the club (via its ungraded website see below) to help set up the 2 teams. Training sessions will be on Sunday mornings once the season begins, led by Adrian initially,10am start on Ashbourne Recreation Ground & QEGS Playing Fields. The actual start date is to be confirmed ( see website) but there is a possibility of more evening session over the summer holiday ( again see website for updates) All interested girls are well come from 17 years of age and lower. No experience necessary. Those with experience are especially encouraged to join us. Also an Invitation to join is opening up to under 13 girls those in year 7 & 8 in September. If numbers for this age are good the club will extend its offer to play games at this age also. Girls in y6 and below will join in with the boys as in previous seasons.
Ashbourne Rugby Club website is changing to ‘Ashbournerufc.rfu.club’. This is an upgrade as the club moves from the pitchero template to the RFU’s Game Management System (GMS)
All members & those interested in the club need to now use this address to be regularly updated with club news, fixtures & results.
