Ashbourne 2nd XV 45 - Leek 2nd XV 0

Magnificent 7 on 'Clint' Eastwood's returns
It was a nice sunny day and the pitch was in good condition. After Robin Wights exceptional speech got the lads fired up. Steve Coats after some troubling bowel movement was ready to start tackling like a machine. Leek put up camp in our half for the first on a regular basis. But Ashbourne defense was like an Ocean wave unpenertable.
Some minutes later several good long distance tries from Alistair, Andy secured the game for Ashbourne. Some rewinds or fast forward moves from Leek got them back into the game but several good turn overs from the Salt, Harry and Jacko allowed Dan the Flying rider to score.
The second half quickly appeared as it always does. Ashbournes hunger for tries continued even though Leek lit a fire and setup camp in our half. Simon and Bes ran in for some good tries after 2-3 phases of Ashbourne attack. Acwell Foley of 18 years old made his Ashbourne senior debut with some great fast up tackles slowing Leek dow. However one of them was a bit of a Wresting as a result had a telling off and rest in the bin for 10 minutes. 10 minutes too long really. Leek fought back and got very close to the try line but good tackling from Jack, Harry and Liam prevented them from scoring. The Forwards getting bored of the Backs taking all the glory decided to push over for a try which succeeded and Jacko who was having a very good game put the icing on the cake by scoring the try. The game then ended shortly after as it does. A good team talk after the game summerised that we played very well. Hopefully some of the lads will be in the first team over the next couple of weeks.
