Eastcote hold on to a point

Away at Eastcote the Red and Black Army were unlucky not to take the 3 points. The Eastcote custodian just proved too much on the day for the strike team.

AHC looked a little shaky in the opening minutes as Eastcote managed to put one on the board mid-way through the first half. But the Red and Blacks answered before half time... and so ended a really ordinary half of hockey.

The AHC strike coming from the second phase of a penalty corner attack and the miscued shot from Luke Cottrell found the back of the net.

Worth mention, in the dying minutes of the half Caleb Guiseppi could have put the red and blacks ahead, but goal line heroics from the Eastcote custodian again denied a rocket at the inside left post.

The second half was to be a much different affair as a fired up home team came out to put another 2 past the uprights in quick succession.

But in response and laudably playing through the phases of their game AHC settled into the work at hand and finished bossing the game in the last 10 mins.

Shujah ur Rehman after seeing most of his penalty corner attempts stopped by Eastcote found his rhythm adding two to his tally, maintaining the league's leading goalscorer position.

The Red and Blacks sensing blood in the water threw everything, including the kitchen sink, at the home side who's custodian managed save after save.

Within the dying moments of the game Tom Pitfield saw a looping rebound from a Shujah drag flick dropping off the keeper's save, but put it just inches over the crossbar opting to strike it at shoulder height.

Looking a much better unit and holding consistency for longer periods of play the Red and Blacks are hosts to Ayesbury this weekend hungry for their first 3 points.
