3s stay on top

After a strong and consistent game against Newbury and Thatchum 4’s, Ashford 3’s sit three points clear on top of the league table.

The 2-0 win was more than deserved, every player playing to their strengths, we played as a tight unit with lots of moving off the ball and passing.

Playing conditions thankfully were ok, the clouds looming but no rain materialised unlike the rest of the day. However, even without the precipitation our players still found it difficult keeping their feet.

In the first half Ashford winning the toss and the push back, started strong putting the opposition on the back foot from the start. Newbury and Thatchum 4’s were a strong oppo making it an interesting and competitive game. There attack was strong but Ashford’s back 4 played brilliantly closing them down and getting their heads down under the pressure thus leaving their attacks fruitless (Cameron only having to touch the ball twice).

As the game progressed we made plenty of opportunities ourselves, however, we fell short several times util Chris Taylor was able utilise one scoring our first goal.
