Colts continue opening accounts

I think we have to be happy with the draw this week. We could and probably should have won it, we then looked as though we were going to lose it before clawing it back with another Holey Moley goal this time by young Charlie.

Our squad comprised four early teens plus young Alex continuing his learning experience in midfield and they were a canny bunch of veterans who were useful going forward.

First half though was uneventful bar not-so-Dangerous working hard to miss 2 gilt-edged chances and us opening up defensively (including me) to expose Cam in goal - not a pretty or edifying sight.

Second half was much better and both sides put on a good show for a crowd bolstered by the 3s and their oppo, must have approached 50 people!!!

We equalised like last week with smart play by Hopper and Dangerous from a shortie and had a good 20 minutes with Charlie being allowed space at the top of the D to fire home his first senior goal (as did Dev last week).

We should have got one or two more but oppo were always dangerous and Cam made one stellar save among a few others before they banged in two quickfire goals with less than 10 to go.

This set up a grandstand finish!

Late on, a move involving Hopper and one of the kids sent Charlie clear and, as he came into the D, he then moved the ball from open side to reverse for no apparent reason... to then unleash a tomahawk thunderbolt that hurtled in to the top right corner past a motionless keeper!!!

Audible gasps followed by cheering from the crowd and a beaming Charlie! As ump Pud said, a National League finish! Less than 3 mins to go and we happily played out time and both sides retired to the bar for a well-deserved foaming/fizzy beverage.

MoM Charlie scored a brace including the Holey Moley goal
Doorknob Surinder now qualified for flu jab and feeling its effects, asked to be sub!
