1. Welcome

Welcome to our summer tournaments section

We run an annual summer 5-a-side tournament sponsored by Ashford Kitchens for both senior and junior teams. This is held within the month of June over a weekend on the pitches at Ashford Town (Middlesex) Football Club, Short Lane Stanwell, TW19 7BH. Each age group has two trophies which are the cup and plate. The cups are for teams finishing in the top half of the group and the plate is for teams finishing in the bottom half of the group.

As well as the football, we will have lots of non-football events as well as plenty to eat and drink from our BBQ, Tea Hut and Bar.

Tournament Format
Seniors
Each team will be assigned a group which will consist of round robin games where points are awarded for a win (3 Points), draw (1 Point) and each goal scored (1 Point per goal). After the conclusion of the games the teams finishing in the top three positions advance to the cup knockout rounds and the bottom three into the plate (please note the amount of teams advancing depends on how many entries).

Once the group stage is completed the tournament enters the knockout rounds. This starts in the round of 16 or quarter- finals (Depending on number of entries) where teams are drawn against each other based on finishing position in the group (group winners will either play a runner up or 3rd place team) which will be done at random. The winners then advance to the next round which would look like the following:
Round of 16 - Quarter Final - Semi Final - Final

Juniors
Each team will be assigned a group within their age group. This group will play games in a round robin format where points are awarded for a win (3 Points), draw (1 Point) and each goal scored (1 Point per goal). After the conclusion of the games the teams finishing in the top two positions advance to the cup knockout rounds and the bottom two into the plate (please note the amount of teams advancing depends on how many entries).

This starts at the round of 16 or quarter finals (Depending on number of entries) where teams are drawn against each other based on finishing position in the group (group winners will either play a runner up and a 3rd place will play a 4th place team) which will be done at random. Each game will last 10 minutes without half time breaks. Games are played in accordance with FA Rules except for the following:

Within knockout games, if the scores are tied 3 minutes of extra time will be played. If the scores are level after extra time then a penalty shoot-out will decide the outcome with the best of 3 takers followed by sudden death if the scores are still level.
