and remembering Robbie, 21 years gone but never forgotten

2020 has been a difficult year for grassroots sport and we are all very aware of this. Today the coronavirus continues to cause the disruption and devastation it has been doing since March.

For the first time in many, many years, our Boxing Day fixture against Dings Crusaders is unable to happen. This is an important day for our club and is a tradition that we very much want to keep alive!

This fixture is talked about by many and became even more important to us when we tragically lost the legend that is Robbie Johnson. He was sadly killed in a road traffic accident 21 years ago after fighting for his life for a number of days. This tragic event still haunts us as a club and I can’t even begin to imagine what it does for Robbie’s family.

It is very important that we take this opportunity to reflect on this year, raise a glass to this amazing stalwart of ADOB. This man will continue to be a massive inspiration to me personally and I know that I am not alone in saying this.

I wanted to reach out and acknowledge this great man, offer the clubs love and support to Di and her amazing family. We will never forget you Robbie. I promise we will do you proud in 2021 when the club reaches 100 years old.

Love to the ADOB RFC family. Stay safe.
