Yellows make it back to back wins

Ashton travelled to a sunny Manchester after a superb victory last time out against Barnton, this meant that the management stayed with the same eleven that won that game 5-1.
Ashton started the brightest and within the first two minutes should of taken the lead through Smith, a superb delivery from the left from Howard was met by the head of Smith who watched his forceful header saved by the Hey stopper. Ashton continued to pile the pressure on the home side with numerous chances going begging, Jones being the main culprit when his weak header was cleared off the line when a goal seemed to be a certainty. The Yellows by now we're pretty dominate and should of taken the lead right before half time when the lively Regan made a mazy run into the Abbey Hey box only for him to fluff his shot well wide with only the keeper to beat.
HT 0-0
The Yellows started the second half as they left the first, it was on 49 minutes when their pressure finally paid off, Smith was the provider as his pin point cross found the man of the moment Gilchrist who steered his well timed header into the far corner to make it 0-1 to the visitors.
Ashton where now playing some good football on a heavy pitch, with the defence being well marshalled from the impressive Bailey and Wilson. Ashton made their first change on 60 minutes, when influential midfielder Webster who had just received a yellow made way for club captain Watson. It was then on 72 minutes when we doubled our lead, a rare Farnworth shot was well tipped onto the post by the keeper but unfortunately for the home side it fell at the feet of Gilchrist and he calmly slotted the ball home to make it 4 goals in his last 2 games. The trio made their next change as Cusani gave way to Brownhill, Ashton were now in full control of the game and could of made it 3 if Howard hadn't of had a nose bleed when 1 on 1 with the keeper. The 3rd and final change saw Jones gave way to the returning Cringle. Abbey Hey snatched a late consolation when their only shot on target was cooley slotted past the helpless Pearson.
FT 1-2
We caught up with Dougie Pitts after the game " It was great to see us play so well and put two good halves together, without being to harsh I thought it was a game we dominated, and a little bit more composure could of seen us maybe score a few more, but it's a valuable 3 points as it's always a hard place to come and pick up a result. Another pleasing aspect is that we now have a fully fit squad to choose from with competition now at its highest, but this is a great headache for the 3 of us to have ".
Ashton travel to Irlam next Saturday looking to continue their good form
