The yellows went into this game on the back of a an excellent win on Tuesday night, with star man Ryan Small running late, the management decided to switch Sam Bailey from the left to centre forward which then saw Phil Williams handed a full debut on the wing.
It was that man Williams who produced the first chance of the game as he skinned the young right back to pick out Edwards who saw his shot cleared of the line.
The home side didn't have to wait long, Richie Livingston found himself in acres of space and riffled a right foot shot that went straight through the Blackpool keeper after only 9 minutes.
It was once again Livingston who doubled Ashton's lead, some great wing play from Williams as he produced a low pin point cross to leave Livingston with the simplest of tap ins.
The rest of the half was just wave after wave of constant yellow attacks, chances fell to Bailey, Gilchrist and Holden all failing to find the visitors net.
HT 2-0
The start of the second half started as the first finished with Ashton on the attack from the kick off, a good save saw Bailey miss a decent chance in the opening few minutes. Ben Kay had a chance that was blocked, Livingston saw his header go over when it was easier to score and Gilchrist must of had his boots on the wrong feet as everything he hit went wide.
In the 57th minute saw Ben Kay produce a sweet left foot volley from 20 yards that left the keeper no chance to make it 3 for the home side. The yellows faithful didn't have to wait much longer for the next goal as it was Kay again who was on the score sheet, a shot from Adam Howard was only parried by the keeper, the rebound falling to Kay's chest who calmly controlled it to rifle a right foot volley into the bottom right corner to make it 4-0 after only 64 minutes.
Then in the 70th minute saw the visitors number 4 receive his marching orders for a professional foul on Livingston. 3 minutes later Ashton were 5 up, Ste Scahill with a low shot was enough to see it rattle Blackpool's net once again.
Blackpool did manage a consolation as good hold up play saw Singleton fouled on the edge of the box from skipper Ian Rowlands. Baird took control of the free kick and calmly dispatched his free kick past a helpless Jay Foulds in the home goal.
There was still time for the home side to add a sixth, good play in the area saw Mike Downing twist and turn a couple of defenders to get his shot away, a huge deflection helped the ball past the keeper to round off a great day for the yellows who were at times unplayable.
