The latest ECB guidance brings hope for return to practice!

Along with the rest of the country, we at Ashton Keynes Cricket Club have been locked down for the past number of weeks, unable to get outside as a team to “put bat to ball”. However, following good news from the government and ECB, we are now able to practice again, in groups of up to six! This is an encouraging step for anyone hoping to hear the enchanting tones of leather on willow this summer.

So, whilst the England cricket team prepare for their forthcoming series against the West Indies by bowling 90+mph in the nets and hitting 100 meter sixes, The Pioneers will be trying to remember which end of the bat is which.

However, despite these unprecedented times, the club has not been idle. With the season on hold, our players have been maintaining their fitness by hitting the roads, paths, and water to raise funds for Gloucestershire Young Carers. The initial idea was for AKCC to complete 100 miles to raise £100. We passed that first target very quickly and have since pushed on. As of Tuesday 10th June, our total mileage stands at 4,228.99 miles "not out”, with our fundraising now well past £500!

Best wishes and stay safe,
