First of all i would like to personally thank all parents, coaches and most of all the players today (from both teams) for a fantastic minuets applause in memory of 15-year-old Melissa Smith who last week was playing for Cadley FC in Euxton, she collapsed on the pitch and sadly died. Things like this bring the football community together as one. To see six and seven year olds standing around the center circle clapping was a credit to all.

The game today was a unbelievable end to end affair, with both sides depleted in number due to illness and holidays! Tackles were flying in from all sides and chances at goal were at a premium and when they did come along the keepers were coming out on top.
This was posibly the best game both teams had played all season!

And what a fitting tribute of football it was, i think Melissa would have enjoyed watching it!
