Ian Cricketts report to follow.
A minutes silence for Tony Donley was held prior to the game, no doubt he would have enjoyed the entertainment on display.
Lewis Woodwards return to first team action together with two excellent debuts as mentioned gave Ashton the strength in depth that is needed this time in the season to push a burly Burnley side very hard.
Ashton were unlucky not too have a second try mid way through the second half as Burnley looked to have deliberately collapsed a surging lineout maul on the refs blindside close to the line .
Ashtons backs looked lively all game none more so than Alex Meredith who took a fine try out wide, the conversion was only narrowly missed by Tom Costello as it dropped approx 1 foot under the crossbar. The forwards tackled and grafted hard all game and Coach Partington can be pleased with a fine all round performance.
