Chasers given the bird.

Ashton United are delighted to announce that Aaron Chalmers is another member of our squad, after Matt Chadwick, who has turned down a seven day notice of approach from a club in our league. Manager Jody Banim said, ‘This is the third time in recent months that a seven day notice of approach to one of our players has come in from a club competing at the same level as us. We might not have the biggest budget to work with but what we do have at Ashton is a very special team spirit. Lads are enjoying their football and their training and we all believe we have a very real opportunity to realise our ambition to get promotion. If you think we’ve done well so far this season, watch out. We’ve coped with a massive injury list that will only get better. There’s more to come from the squad yet and today’s news will only lift the mood.

Chairman Terry Hollis said, ‘This is great news for the club. All too often we hear criticism of players leaving clubs for a few quid more, here or there. We are not seeing this at Ashton United where everyone at the club is buying in to what we are trying to achieve. I am thrilled for Jody and also for the supporters who deserve a reward for their loyalty too.‘

It seems the clear message from Ashton United players to the ‘big guns’ in our league is ‘put your cheque books away lads, you can’t buy our loyalty!’
