To all at the club – we trust you are all keeping well at these uncertain times. We thought we would just provide a brief update...

..on the current position in the club.

The Exec, just before lockdown, had a meeting looking at the impact of Covid-19 on our club, since this the RFU have also started to provide additional support for clubs and this is being coordinated via Cheshire RFU. That said we can assure you that despite the early finish to the season (more on that later), and a drop of income from holding a number of functions, the club is in a stable position.

We have taken a number of steps to minimise our cost base while we have been in the fortunate position of providing additional training facilities to the Northwest Ambulance Services.

The Covid-19 outbreak has significantly affected the end of the 19-20 season, just as a very spring like end of the season breaks out where I am sure our backs would have revelled in the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine – unlike Lostock! This has meant we have we have finished 2nd in the league and will be in the pot for promotion – congratulations to all those have supported the team this season, a great achievement and showing the team is progressing.

This has also lead to a very different Gent’s Dinner taking place......

It will take place on 7.30pm (Zoom Room open from 7pm) on the 1st May. Rest assured we will re-book Jason Leonard for the next dinner as soon we can.

Joining instructions are now on the Players Lounge/Social media & web-site, you will need to have downloaded "Zoom" software / App on to your PC/laptop/Tablet/Smart phone etc.

We are also having a few pints on a Thursday night in the virtual Plough at 8.30pm, again using Zoom. E-mail Pat at psns64@hotmail.com if you want to join in.

We want to thank all those who are continuing to pay their subs as this is the life blood of the Club and has a tremendous benefit to the club’s cash flow. If however you find yourself in a difficult situation then please get in touch with either myself or Pat Stokes directly and we will see what can be done.

As and when we come through this we will endeavour to get things back up and running as quickly as possible, to support this we have retained the stewardship of Lyndsey and Josh who will be on hand to support the club in this.

Best regards, stay safe

Stephen Appleby
Chairman AOMRUFC
