Nick Lunt RIP
Some very sad news to share from the rugby club this week. Ashton’s former player Nick Lunt passed away last weekend after a short illness, aged 75..
Nick played for Ashton in the 60s and 70s and also played and was Chairman at Sale FC. He also turned to refereeing after he had hung up his boots.
I met Nick several times at Ashton’s former players get togethers. He was always good company and proud of his playing days at Ashton and his own involvement with other clubs in the local area. Clearly he loved his rugby and likewise he was loved and liked by his many friends within the game.
The club sends its heartfelt condolences to his wife Julie and all of Nick’s extended family and friends. The funeral will take place at Altrincham Crematorium on the 12th January (the exact time yet to be confirmed). Julie has suggested that the wearing of club rugby shirts / rugby ties etc would be fitting. The wake will follow at Sale FC, Heywood Road.
