We went into our second away game on the bounce in good spirits; we have been playing some good football of late. We started the game strongly and were in complete control for long periods, Balham threatened a couple of times from the long ball game they had adopted. However on the half hour mark Balham took the lead from a corner with a smart header at the far post, 1 – 0 that sparked us into another gear and we equalized straight away through Richard Lediju pressing the keeper who kicked the ball against him. 1 – 1
We started the second half with a really high tempo and carved out a few good opportunities but failed to take them. Just after the hour mark we had a free kick about 20 yards out on the right side of the box, Dan Cox stepped up and curled the ball around the wall and into the bottom corner. 1 – 2
We managed the game really well during the last 30 mins creating another couple of good opportunities but again failed to take them. Then came the biggest talking point of the game, Balham had a throw in down near our corner flag in the 94 minute. The throw was taken illegally (the thrower must have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline, and he didn't) but unfortunately for us the decision wasn't given and the ball bounced in and around our box then fell to a Balham player who rifled in an unstoppable shot into the top corner. 2 – 2
A really disappointing end to a match in which we fully deserved all 3 points but that’s football and we roll our sleeves up and onto the next game which is Dorking away next Saturday.
