IF YOU'RE OUT THERE? KEEP IN TOUCH

Sunday Updates were suspended many weeks ago when the news seemed more positive and thoughts of a return to normality looked realistic. Sad to say this optimism was not justified and as a result the Sunday Update has returned from the grave......

• A reminder : Applications for the role of Bar Manager close on the 18th October. At this point the applicants will be appraised and, where applicable, interviews arranged.
• Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October are the first dates for your Christmas Diary. Our beloved Aspatria Charity Shop will be holding a pop up sale at Bower Park commencing 10am each day. There will be some absolute bargains at prices that would make Aldi look like Harrods. Even better all funds raised are destined for good causes in and around Aspatria. What’s not to like!!
• Liz’s Country Kitchen has held two very successful Sunday Takeaway events at Bower Park. Liz and Conner are currently focusing on a lunch offering with the next ‘come and get me’ date scheduled for 18th October – full details on facebook. Remember, you have to book…
• On the same subject and when times return to some kind of normality the club are looking to partner up with Liz and Connor and host speciality food nights. Could be anything from a Chinese House Party to Born in the USA. Details will follow when we are all in position to proceed.
• No league rugby until January at the earliest. A big disappointment with the playing squad champing at the bit to get going. We are also now aware that the planned league restructure will be agreed but not implemented before season 2022 / 23. This early announcement by the RFU is a common sense decision and has been widely welcomed.
• Training arrangements continue with Derek also masterminding Gym usage. Full Covid 19 precautions are in place for everyone’s protection.
• The players are looking at two events in the upcoming weeks when it is hoped the club will open with some super saver offers on all – yes all – bottled drinks. Again, these can only proceed with full Covid 19 regulations being observed but hey! Let’s have some fun, we ‘ain’t dead yet.
• Following submission of a planning application local residents have now been advised of the outline plans that Gleeson have for Hopes field next to club grounds. Gleeson’s are very much keeping the club in the loop as we do have a significant part to play in their plans.
• Park Run at Bower Park. This is still very much on the cards but the start has been delayed by Covid. However, when restrictions are lifted the organisers are near set to go. The club is playing its part by exploring improvements to the agreed route. We hope to announce more in the coming weeks when talks with grant providers are concluded.
• No league rugby means that there is little to be gained by opening up the bars of Bower Park at the present time. However, supporters should know that the General Committee continues to meet regularly and all related issues are under continual review.
• One of the main issues facing the club is the development of new income streams. If you have any ideas of how the land and buildings at Bower Park can be used to generate new income then don’t be shy – let us know.
