Cumbria Fire and Rescue delivered a superb Heart Start course last night at Aspatria Bowling Club to a group consisting of delegates from the town's football club, bowling club, junior football club and the Hornets. It certainly was heartening to see the town's sporting clubs working together on this important issue.

Led by Darran Irwin and his very able assistants Kian and Lyn, the delegates learned the fundamentals of CPR and how to use a defibrillator in case of an emergency.

The course was informative, fun and accessible and, most importantly, all the attendees left with an increased level of confidence and competence. Hopefully, they will never be called upon to put these skills into practice.
