Some things are easily forgotten but defiantly shouldn't be. Our rugby life off the pitch is just as important as on the pitch.

For those who don't know me, my name is Stewart Morris. I am the Captain of Atherstone First Team. I am currently starting my second Season in the role. I have been involved with this club for around 6-7 years. I've played and loved this game for 23 years, playing at various levels. My proudest moment was representing the Army under 20's playing at Aldershot stadium.

There has been many changes at the club since I joined, some good some bad, but one important issue that I want to talk about is rugby off the pitch. As players we know how hard it is each week putting our bodies on the line to represent not only ourselves but each other. What's harder still, is waiting for our bodies to recover, which if your like Jenson Sharlott and the younger generation you will be fine by Sunday afternoon. However as the older ones of you reading this will know a full recovery will probably take all week. What should not be forgotten though, is our family, loved ones and supporters who are always there picking up our broken bodies.

With outgoing and incoming players over the last few seasons I feel that our Rugby Family has slighty shrunk. I know we can get it back to the days of how it used to be. I would like to personally thank everyone who has supported the club and I hope we can still count on your support for what is a big period of change within Atherstone RFC.

On a personal note, I couldn't play the game and love it as much as I do if I didnt have the support of my partner and family and I am sure there any many out there who feel the same. I truley believe this club is growing and I want it to grow with all our players partners, families and supporters with it. We are coming up with ideas to get everyone more involved, family days, parties and partners nights ect. I want to ask for everyone to please join in and make this club great again. Please make the time to attend our functions. Convince your partners to come down and join in.

With your continued support and the added support of those who are not involved within the club, we can make this small club feel like Our Big Rugby Family once again.
