Last time we met Dereham Town was back in January 2019 where the points were shared when we took on resurgent Magpies.

Date: Saturday 19th January 2019
Attendance: 224

We took the lead in the first half, but Dereham fought back for a deserved share of the spoils.

The hosts started the game well after Ryan Crisp had an effort that saw David Hughes manage to tip the ball away from goal.

Magpies left back Owen Murphy had a chance after a nice interchange, but again David Hughes made the save to keep it goalless.

After those chances we grew into the game and we almost took the lead after Marcus Milner found Sam Cross who just headed wide of the goal. Shad Ngandu also had a headed opportunity but couldn’t get the right connection on the ball to take it in.

Five minutes left in the first half of the game and The Millers took the lead, Shad Ngandu slipped a ball in for Andy Freeman who dinked the ball into the far corner of the goal.

Half Time | Dereham Town 0-1 Aveley.

The hosts came into the game strongly in the second half as they launched the ball consistently into the box and got their deserved leveller on the 70th minute. Matthew Castellan met with a cross and directed his header into the top left hand corner.

Both teams had chances to win the match, half chances for Tom Richardson and Tony Martin couldn’t seal a late win. But after back to back corners The Magpies headed both wide and over the crossbar, meaning it was a share of the spoils between the two sides.
