Jason is a former Dagenham & Redbridge defender, who racked up 462 appearances for the Victoria Road outfit before roles as joint manager at Billericay Town, and assistant at Braintree Town under Robbie Garvey.
On Jason, Hodges said: "He was a number two when I was at Billericay and impressed me immensely.
"He is good to have around the place and I think it’ll work really well.”
Joe was on the sub bench as recently as Saturday for league rivals East Thurrock United in their FA Cup First Round tie with Macclesfield Town.
Over the years Joe has also played for non league sides such as Tilbury and Hornchurch, while enjoying his most fruitful spells at Colchester United and Leyton Orient in the Football League.
On Joe, Hodges said: "I have been with him at West Ham and he has played league football. He has been player coach at East Thurrock.
"Away from his knowledge of football he is still a very good player which is a massive bonus.
"He is just coming back from a leg break and was on the bench in the FA Cup on Saturday and seems, fingers crossed, that he maybe involved on Saturday against Horsham."
